CavFab JL/JT 2.5 Ton 7075 Aluminum Steering Kit

Built for Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU and Gladiator JT owners who want a direct bolt-on steering upgrade for big tires, lifted Jeeps, daily driving, and hard trail use. The system uses massive 2" 7075 billet aluminum tie rod and drag link bars with greaseable 2.5-ton ends and oversized 1.25" threaded shanks.

IMPORTANT: Select the correct axle track option. Sport/Sahara narrow-track and Rubicon/Mojave wide-track models use different tie rod lengths.

WHEEL / INSTALL NOTES

We recommend 4.5" of backspacing with a 17" wheel.
Fitment with stock wheels is not currently confirmed.
Fox Racing Shox 983-02-148 Factory Race Series 2.0 ATS Steering Stabilizer is compatible with this steering kit.
Ends arrive greased but may require one additional pump before driving. Add grease slowly to avoid damaging the boot.

Yes. Anytime you replace a tie rod or drag link, your toe and steering wheel center will change. A professional laser alignment is recommended.

This kit is designed for the factory orientation. A flipped knuckle end is not currently offered.

Yes. Both narrow- and wide-track kits retain the OEM stabilizer location and fit most aftermarket dampers without spacers.

17″+ wheels with 4.5″ or less backspacing will clear. Factory Rubicon/Sport/Sahara wheels require spacers or aftermarket wheels.

If your wobble is caused by worn tie rod ends or a bent drag link, yes. But other causes (track bar wear, caster angle, tire balance) must be inspected.

Every 5,000 miles or after deep water crossings. Just one slow pump of EP2 grease is enough. overfilling can damage the boot.

250 ft-lb with red threadlocker. Recheck torque after the first 100 miles.

Yes — works with 0–6.5″ lifts. For lifts over 4.5″, a flipped drag link and raised track bar bracket are recommended.

Decent product, Poor costumer service

I purchased the 2.5 Ton JL Steering Kit from CavFab, and overall the product itself is extremely well built. The craftsmanship is excellent, the components feel heavy-duty, and the quality of the materials is exactly what you would expect from an upgraded steering kit. Once installed, it gives the Jeep a much stronger and more confidence-inspiring steering setup.

That said, the experience outside of the actual product left a lot to be desired. Customer service has been basically non-existent when it comes to getting replies back for questions. For a product like this, where proper installation and setup matter, it is frustrating not being able to get timely support or guidance from the company.

Another major downside is the lack of instructions included with the product. A steering kit is not something that should leave customers guessing, especially when torque specs, orientation, adjustment, and install details are important. Even a basic instruction sheet or online install guide would make a big difference.

In short, the CavFab 2.5 Ton JL Steering Kit is a very well-made product with great craftsmanship, but the customer support and lack of instructions seriously hurt the overall buying experience. If you are mechanically experienced and comfortable figuring things out on your own, the kit itself is solid. But if you expect responsive support or clear installation guidance, be prepared for disappointment.
