Frequently Asked Questions
Will these parts fit my LJ Unlimited as well as a standard TJ?
Almost everything in this collection fits both - the TJ and LJ share the same suspension architecture, steering, and most hardware, with the LJ simply stretched in wheelbase. Where length matters, the product page spells out exact fitment for each version. Many parts cross over to the YJ as well; check the listing or contact us and we'll confirm for your exact Jeep before you order.
What does upgraded crossover steering actually fix on a TJ?
The factory linkage and rod ends are sized for stock tires, and once you lift a TJ and add 33s or 35s, you start seeing flex, bump steer, and bent components. Our HD steering uses heavier-wall tubing and serviceable ends, raises clearance over obstacles, and keeps the geometry honest at lift height. The result is steering that stays predictable on the highway and survives the trail - which is exactly the order of priorities we design around.
Do I need a lift before installing your TJ parts?
Not for most of them. Diff covers, steering upgrades, armor, and inner fenders work at stock height just as well as lifted - protection and strength don't care about ride height. Parts designed around lifted geometry, like adjustable control arms and track bar systems, are where lift height matters, and those product pages state the intended range. Build in whatever order suits your Jeep and budget; plenty of our customers armor up first and lift later.
How do CavFab TJ parts compare with what the big brands offer?
We're a family-owned shop that designs everything in-house and builds it from American-sourced steel, and the TJ catalog reflects parts we actually run on our own rigs. Bigger brands cover hundreds of platforms at scale; we go deep on the Jeeps we know, and that shows up in the details - fitment, weld quality, and function-first design choices. Add a real warranty and actual humans answering the phone, and the comparison usually settles itself once a customer has handled both.
