What's the first steering or suspension upgrade I should make on my XJ?
For most XJs, the answer is steering. The factory linkage is the platform's best-known weak point once you add larger tires, and our HD high clearance crossover steering kit fixes the geometry, the strength, and the clearance in one shot - it's the product line we built this company on. From there, an adjustable track bar dials in your axle position if you're lifted, and a diff cover protects the investment. Suspension upgrades like our Alpha 3-link come into play when you're ready to push the platform further.
What makes crossover steering better than my XJ's stock setup?
The stock inverted-Y design ties your tie rod and drag link together in a way that multiplies stress and produces bump steer as soon as you lift the Jeep, and the factory components were sized for street duty decades ago. Crossover steering runs the drag link from the pitman arm directly to the knuckle with a full-width tie rod, which cleans up the geometry, eliminates most bump steer on lifted rigs, and uses far stronger components throughout. It's the difference between steering that tolerates the trail and steering that's built for it.
Do I need to weld or fabricate anything to install your XJ kits?
Most of this collection is bolt-on - the crossover steering, track bars, and diff covers install with hand tools and basic mechanical skills. The exceptions are clearly flagged: our Alpha Series 3-link longarm kit and the DIY-labeled products are designed for builders who weld, because that's what serious long-arm suspension work requires. Every product page states what's bolt-on and what's weld-on, so you know exactly what you're signing up for before you buy.
